GKS Inspection Services is proud to announce the introduction of a new facet of laser digitizing services - Large Scale, Terrestrial Laser Scanning.  Beginning immediately, GKS is able to perform on-site 3D scanning of objects that are virtually unlimited in size.  The newly acquired FARO LS 880 is capable of digitizing an area of up to 75 meters radially in any one setup, while maintaining an accuracy of +/- 3.0 mm or better over that distance.  The new scanner is designed to function in virtually any environment including broad daylight, the dark of night, indoors, and outdoors.  Our system can even scan in COLOR, where each measured X,Y,Z coordinate is also assigned an RGB color value.

This new service offering opens up a whole new world to GKS’ well-established 3D laser scanning and reverse-engineering group.  The size of the specimen being scanned is no longer limited to the directional travel of a machine, or the reach of an arm.  Scans can be taken anywhere, at virtually any time.  The raw output of our Large Scale scanning system is ‘point-cloud’ data, which GKS can use as reference to create a fully parametric file in almost any native format (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Pro-Engineer, CATIA, UG, IDEAS, DXF, DWG, IGES, ASCII).
