Problem:   Devise a method to digitize an actual life-size model of a one-piece
tub / tub-surround and create IGES surface data for the purpose of part duplication.
Process:   The process used to complete this task included the use of an ‘articulating
arm’ CMM mounted with a line laser sensor. This combination of measurement technologies allows for great
flexibility in terms of the size limitations of the part being measured. We digitize the object multiple
setups, and associate the scans back together using advanced CAD software.
Solution:   The measured data was used as reference to create a fully surfaced
3-Dimensional CAD model. The created model included details such as tile textures, and soap dish
features. For final delivery to the customer, the model was exported a IGES surface data.
