Problem:   Obtain full definition of a headliner from a fifteen-passenger van. Size
was not of concern due to the large volumes achievable with our portable equipment.
Process:   The process began by designing a fixture to hold the headliner to prevent
any deformation. In order to achieve complete 3-Dimensional definition the part was digitized in multiple
orientations, which were later associated together into the same coordinate system.
Solution:   The measured ‘point-cloud data’ was overlaid with the original CAD model
to identify any areas out of the specified tolerance zone. From these easy to read reports the
manufacture can determine if this was a functional or non-functional part.
