Problem:   Determine if the prototype part was being manufactured within the specified tolerance zones. In this particular case “shrinkage” was of major concern.

Process:   The process used to fulfill this customer’s needs incorporated the use of laser digitizing measurement technology. To obtain complete 3-Dimensioanl information, the model was digitized from many different orientations, and later associated together into the same working coordinate system. Even the smallest areas of detail are within the scope of the digitizing equipment.

Solution:   The measured ‘point-cloud data’ was overlaid with the original CAD model using an advanced ‘bestfit’ routine in the CAD software. Any areas of concern were then easily identified and passed on to the customer for correction.
