Problem:   Derive a method to fixture the part without distorting it from the original shape, thus allowing the laser digitizing equipment to capture the data from multiple orientations for complete 3-Dimensional coverage.

Process:   The strategy used to fulfill the customer’s needs instituted the use of laser digitizing measurement technology. For us to attain total 3-Dimensional information, the plastic component was digitized from various orientations, which were later aligned together into the same coordinate system.

Solution:   The acquired ‘point-cloud data’ was then aligned to the supplied CAD model using the proper datum scheme. From this we supplied the customer with images showing any deviation such as expansion, shrinkage, twist, or flex.
