Problem:   To perform laser digitizing inspection at the customer facility using
mobile equipment. The purpose of the digitizing was to establish the accuracy of the tool face with
respect to the original design intent (CAD data).
Process:   The laser digitizing equipment and personnel traveled to the customer
facility to perform the on-site inspection. The scans were taken of the part surface along with datum
features (holes, planes, etc.) for the purpose of aligning the measured data to the original math data
(CAD). Solution:   The measured data was brought back to our facility for
processing. The data was overlaid with the original design intent (CAD data) and compared, which
graphically showed the deviation in each localized area of the part. The result showed where the tool
varied as well as to what degree of deviation was measured. |
